Principal's Message
Thank you so much for all of your letters. It has been heartwarming to read how much you all love the school. This quote sums us up:
"It is a small school to those who view it from outside but it is a treasure....it is history..... it is future."

How Well Do We Know the Mass Part 3 - The Meal Sharing
The Communion Rite: Our Father and Sign of Peace – we prepare to eat and drink at the Lord’s table with those words taught to us by Jesus: “Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.” Keenly aware that communion (the word means “ union with “) is the sign and the source of our reconciliation and union with God and with one another, we make a gesture of union and forgiveness with those around us and offer them a sign of peace. Invitation to Communion – the presider then shows us the Body and Blood of Christ and invites us to come to the table: “This is the Lamb of God…….The members of the assembly now approach the altar in procession. Communion – as God fed our ancestors in the desert on their pilgrimage, so God gives us food for our journey. We approach the minister who gives us the eucharistic bread with the words “The Body of Christ“ and we respond “AMEN“. We then got up to the minister with the cup who gives it to us with the words “The Blood of Christ“ to which we profess our “AMEN” . During this procession we usually sing a hymn which unites our voices, minds and thoughts, even as the Body and Blood of Christ unites us. Then we pray silently in our hearts, thanking and praising God and asking for all that this sacrament promises. Then the presider unites our prayers in the Prayer after communion to which we respond “Amen“.

Children who are late need to report to the office in case they have been marked absent by the teacher who takes the roll first thing in the morning.
If an absence is planned for a special reason, a note or telephone call to the school in advance is appreciated. In cases of prolonged absence, e.g. a family trip, a written note is required.

In our writing we have been learning about adjectives and how to add these into our writing to make it more interesting for the reader. We have written some poems about winter using our 5 senses here is a selection.....

Room 2 Learning
Room 2 had a busy week of learning! We've been working on some beautiful pixel art as part of an R.E. project. In R.E., we've been learning about sacred signs and symbols in the Catholic church, including the definitions for the word 'symbol' and 'sign'. The class looked at lots of different special signs and symbols and we talked about their important meanings. We then had some fun making our own digital designs using an online pixel art website. Have a look at our colourful designs!
We have also been doing some great work in our reading groups this week. We've been focusing a lot on non-fiction, which has had the class learning lots of new words and concepts.
Room 4 Learning
Last Wednesday afternoon Room 4 had the task of sorting through a range of different colour samples, also known as hues. The big scientific idea behind this activity was:
For the children to visualise the absorption of primary colours of light (red, green and blue) by the primary colours of pigments (cyan, magenta, and yellow) producing a multitude of different colours.
The children worked in pairs or independently and were given 49 coloured hue samples. They started by identifying the 7 base colours: red, orange, purple, yellow, green, blue and cyan. Once the base colours were identified, the children began sorting the other hue samples. They had to arrange a set of 6 other colours similar to each base colour. This was initially quite challenging as the base colors had many bright and pale variations. Colours are determined by 3 main factors: hue, chroma and value. The chroma of a colour refers to its intensity, whether the colour is rich and full or pale and dull. Value refers to the shade of lightness in a colour - how light or dark a colour is. The activity pack contained the rows of each base colour and its variations, enabling the children to check once they had arranged the colours.
